COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX)-The Jacobs Family in Essex Junction lost its cat, Trent, in the middle of November. He was later found by Colchester resident, Patty Ahonen, on Christmas Eve.
"We still can't believe it. We're in shock that he's back and he's so happy,” Trent’s owner, Beth Jacobs said.
Patty found Trent in her quest to find her family’s lost cat named Max. Max disappeared from the Ahonen’s farm in Colchester around the same time that Trent went missing.
"We were pretty much worried about it right away, because Max was the sort of cat that wanted to be in." Ahonen said. "The day after he didn't come home, that night we thought, ok this is a problem."
After posting Max’s picture on Facebook, Patty received a tip that Max could be hanging out in an area on Pearl Street in Essex Junction. Patty laid out a Havahart trap, but instead of finding Max, she got Trent.
"Disappointed that it wasn't him (Max), but at the same time realizing that here's this other cat that's pretty skinny and clearly looked like someone had loved him,” Ahonen said.
Patty brought Trent home. He stayed with the family through Christmas. Once Trent’s picture was posted on the Facebook page, Lost and Found Animals of Vermont, it didn’t take long for Beth Jacobs to reach out. Trent was back in the Jacobs home shortly thereafter.
"As my kids woke up one-by-one they had a great Christmas surprise,” Beth Jacobs said.
Trent was found in the Havahart trap just a few yards away from where Beth works.
Max is still missing. He’s an orange Tabby weighing about nine pounds and is a year and a half old. Anyone that thinks they have seen Max can contact Patty Ahonen by clicking here: https://www.facebook.com/patty.hartahonen?fref=ts
