In the most important development for horse/human relations in NYC since the ghost of Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman was spotted trotting through Williamsburg, the shortest cop in the country arrived in town this week to start training for a lifetime of serving, comforting, munching on carrots, and licking bulldogs.
Miniature horse Honor, who is just over 2 feet tall and weighs just 95 pounds, arrived in the city Thursday to start training with nonprofit group Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses. While he isn't quite big enough to qualify for the NYPD's mounted unit (to put it mildly), the Post reports that after two years of training, Honor will be sent out with first responders to help comfort people suffering from stress or trauma.
But before Honor gets to the down and dirty business of providing solace and affection to those in need, the eight-month-old was treated to a meal with Stephen Bruce, co-founder and owner of Serendipity 3. As you can see in the photos above of the well-documented tête-à-tête, the two shared a Celestial Carrot Cake outside Serendipity 3 Friday. Click through to get your mini fix.
