In honor of If Pets Had Thumbs Day, let’s imagine the possibilities!

Your dog could open the fridge and help themselves to leftovers.
Your cat could finally turn the doorknob instead of dramatically meowing outside it.
Treat jars? Opened.
Toy bins? Emptied.
Online shopping carts? Fully loaded — and somehow billed to you.

Let’s be honest… our pets already act like they have thumbs. They can nudge open doors, unzip bags, and magically appear the second they hear a snack wrapper crinkle. Imagine what they could do with real grip strength!

If pets had thumbs, maybe they’d brush their own coats, refill their water bowls, or even leash themselves up for a walk. (We can dream, right? 😉)

While it’s all in good fun, this silly holiday reminds us just how clever and resourceful our pets really are. They may not have opposable thumbs, but they have problem-solving skills, strong paws, and big personalities that keep us laughing every day.

Be sure to give your pet an extra scratch behind the ears tomorrow — before they figure out how to open the pantry on their own.
